After Mass on Friday 27th August 2010 the bells rang out as Fr Luke led a procession from the church, along the lane and into the ORIENS Theatre, opening its doors to the public for the first time after 68 years. The blessing of the theatre began with the people singing Salve Sancte Pater in honour of St Francis, and then after a prayer, the Asperges was sung as Fr Luke went round blessing every nook and cranny. There followed a short programme in Italian which was enjoyed by everyone despite the heat! After the programme - two interesting talks, a playlet and a reading of verse - there was a delicious buffet to round off the evening. Congratulations to all who worked so hard to make this occasion such a resounding success, and grateful thanks to all the kind benefactors who contributed to the theatre fund
